306. Orpheus and Eurydice

November 2, 2011

A modern reinterpretation of the ancient Greek myth, The Canadian Stage Company presents the one-act ballet Orpheus and Eurydice. Choreographed by Quebec native Marie Chouinard, the show features original music by Louis Dufort and was originally created in February 2008 at the Equilibrio Festival in Rome.

Orpheus and Eurydice

Orpheus and Eurydice is the tail of a musician/poet/prophet who enters the underworld on a mission to rescue his wife, Eurydice, who died from a viper’s bite. The one-act ballet “features multiple versions of the two characters and concerns itself with the most intimate manifestations of the human body.”
